I just returned back to Bangkok from a wonderful two week visit to the US. My husband and I went to visit his family in San Antonio, TX and then I went to Louisiana to visit my siblings. I had my camera with me, but unfortunately, rarely remembered to take it with me.
Share a song you loved when you were a little kid
I'm the youngest of 5 kids. Back in the day, my brothers and sisters had a bunch of 45s that I used to play when I had the chance. Flower Town by The Rose Garden was one of my oldest sister's 45s. My friends and I heard this song and decided that we must build Flower Town. We set up all my mother's card tables in the living room and covered them with blankets and sleeping bags...those were the houses. We made a ton of tissue paper flowers as decorations (since it was "Flower" Town). This went on for weeks until my mom got a bit put out with it and put a moratorium on Flower Town.
What was your first concert?
I went to my first concert with my mother! She was a huge fan of Waylon Jennings. When I was about 10 or 11 he played at the Civic Center in Monroe, LA and my mother took me with her to see the concert.
What were the biggest and smallest places you’ve lived in?
Submitted by Jack Yan.In terms of town/cities, I've lived at both ends of the spectrum:
Smallest - Mer Rouge, Louisiana (population ~ 720)
Largest - Bangkok, Thailand (population ~ 8.2 million)
I'm finally on the last leg of my library listening project. Only the ABC artists to listen to and then I can get back to listening to whatever songs I want. Thank goodness! In an effort not to go back to letters that I've already listened to, I only downloaded B and C artists from eMusic this month.
Tonight I had to take the "scenic route" home from the lab. The (pro-Thaksin) "Red Shirts" had blocked all the roads at Victory Monument. No traffic is moving through there at all. I got home by the sky train, but getting to a sky train station involved a re-routed bus ride and a trip on the subway. When I finally got on the sky train, there were about 5 or 6 red shirts in the car with me! Freaky. I was a little paranoid that they might do something, but they just got off at the Victory Monument station and joined the rest of the red shirts.
You're making a Mix Tape titled "8th Grade Dance." Share the first song you'd put on it.
Well, if it was a Mix Tape for a dance, then this is song I remember from the 8th grade era that made me want to dance:
It's been a while since I've posted. Work has been horrendous and will continue that way for at least another month. During these times, I know to be thankful that we have a lot of work! It's a hot, dry, miserable time of year in Bangkok. I think all of our clients are trying to finish up projects before the rainy season starts.
Daylight Savings Time started at 2:00 a.m. today. What's your favorite thing about having more light later in the day?
Thailand doesn't have daylight saving time, but my favorite thing is about it is that it is now exactly 12 hrs difference from the time here to US Central Time. That makes it extremely easy to know what time it is back home.
That is End of Love to the left. I haven't listened to it yet...still working through the other CDs plus... read more
